For my personal contributions to the sound design document I created the following slides, here are my general notes on each slide:
Foley -
I added in a Foley section and detailed in what sound effects we could use to supplement and enhance our game's environment, i think features such as the ambient chatter, message sound effects and footsteps could really help our game feel more immersive and save time in setting scenes, telling a story through audio prompts rather than having to tell our audience what is happening.
Background music -
On the Background music slide i gave some thoughts on the soundtrack for some of the most important areas of our game, what the music would sound like, what techniques we could use, and how this would have an impact on our audience in terms of setting a scene and storytelling.
Menu Screen/End Scene -
Following on from this i also talked a little about the menu screens and the ending screen, though thought that the best option for us that would save time and effort would be to maybe reuse a simplified melody from another track in our game similar to what games like Undertale do.
Benchmark Soundtracks -
The main benchmarks i looked into were Yume Nikki, Adventure time, Undertale and Bee and puppycat, all of which i think fit quite well with the general theming of our game, i considered what made these soundtracks unique and interesting, and how we could use inspiration from them in our own game's soundtrack.
Inspiration playlist -
The inspiration playlist was just something i wanted to add to supplement the benchmark research, it contains songs i think fit with the feel of our game and i feel we could maybe use this as further inspiration to place into our own soundtrack.
Sound -
The sound slide talks a little about the research i did into the file types that Renpy accepts and which would likely be our best choice to retain audio quality.
As a bonus i also created a logo we could use for our studio, I tried to give it a very retro feel that reflects on our studio name - Nostalgia studios.
