Life Drawing 2

Image
1 Minute Warmup Sketches - For this weeks life drawing lesson i did something different to usual, as my right hand was in a bit of pain due to an injury i decided to switch to using my non dominant left hand for this lesson. Immediately upon doing this the biggest thing i noticed was the shakiness of my lines and how difficult it was to get those scaffolds down, however despite it looking more messy, i actually found i was able to work more gesturally than i normally would. I struggled at first but after the exercise where we focused more on negative space and the shapes of the body as a whole, i decided to take a different approach to how i constructed my figures. I ignored the scaffold and tried to focus more on making larger marks, blocking out the negative space which was much easier than trying to make all the tiny details.  5 Minute Sketches - I continued with this method of looking at the general shapes and gesture of the figure still using my left hand and actually fo...

What is anxiety? [WEEK 14]

What is GAD? The NHS(n.d.) definition of anxiety (also known as Generalized anxiety disorder) is a mental health condition that causes excessive levels of stress and panic towards a range of causes. Those who deal with GAD may experience symptoms such as feeling tense, lightheaded or dizzy, heart palpitations, restlessness, depression, difficulty sleeping, and even stomach issues (NHS n.d.). GAD sets itself apart from just the usual feeling of worry as it is something that is a near constant in the individuals life and impacts them in a way that is much more severe than usual. It may impact their ability to socialize, do certain things they enjoy, and in some cases might cause them to isolate themselves all together. There are many subsections of the mental health bracket of anxiety, some of these disorders being Generalized anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Social anxiety disorder, and other phobia related anxieties (NIMH n.d.). In the case of our game, our main character suffers...

Project Evaluation - [WEEK 16]

Image
Teamwork - Initially, when we were first sorted into our groups i felt a lot of anxiety being around new people and working on a project together, i worried that i would disappoint my team or let them down with my work, and this really made me stress about this project. However i found that my team and i ended up working really well together, i enjoyed working collaboratively and i feel a great sense of pride in the work we have created as a team. It made me feel more confident in my own abilities too, getting feedback and bouncing ideas off of each other to help us figure out the direction the project was going to go in and what was required of each of us to work towards our end goal. I was supported and i tried to help support everyone equally and in the end i found i really truly enjoyed working with my team and I'm very glad i was pushed out of my comfort zone. As for my role as the 2D lead i thought it was nice being able to look into and develop the visual style of the game, ...

Ren'py Technical considerations [WEEK 14]

What software/hardware are you using? Why? Kenny [Environment artist] - Software - Firealpaca Hardware - Pc and Graphics tablet Personally I used Firealpaca due to the fact it is both free and runs the best on my PC, as all of our project will be digital art based, the fact i can make digital files that then can be utilized by all team members is really important to me. Firealpaca also can make PNG files which is what Ren'Py requires to be uploaded.
