Capstone Project - Evaluation & posting my game on itch.io

Image
Evaluation - - Research When I first started out with coming up with ideas for my FMP i wanted to make a TTRPG, however I decided to pivot paths a little and make a board game as this is something I have never made before. With that in mind, I made sure to do a lot of research into similar games in the genre I wanted to make which really helped me when it came to developing the mechanics of the game. It was definitely a little scary to work on something I had never attempted before but I actually found the process of researching how games are made and how I could hypothetically make my own games to be really inspiring.  Theming wise, I don't really know why I chose the theme of cavemen and dinosaurs, I wouldn't say I am particularly fascinated by the topic [don't get me wrong dinosaurs are epic but I'm not the world's biggest fan or particularly knowledgeable on the subject] I think maybe I could have done more historical research into these two really distinct tim...

Capstone Project - Bonus artwork

Image
Cave building - This is a bonus piece of artwork I made for hotel bunga just to advertise the project on my instagram page! I also intend to post this on my itch.io page for Hotel Bunga's digital download to provide a bit more interest about my game. I decided to go with the concept of the cavepeople building the cave in reference to the main mechanic of my game, I included the characters Gremmie the Thumper and Rok the Gatherer as they are some of my favourite employee designs [it was important I chose employees over clients as this makes the most sense with the gameplay of Hotel Bunga]. In the background, one of my friends designed a little persona of themselves inspired by hotel bunga, they did this a while ago just because they loved the idea of my game! so, I decided to take their little design and turn them into a background character representing the player! In the box by their feet is a handful of materials representing the flora and fauna tokens, transferring more game me...

Capstone Project: Manufacture setbacks

Printing my own cards: Although I would have liked to have had my game printed professionally for the Gradfest event, even if I had ordered it last week it wasn't 100% guaranteed to arrive by the 8th. Instead, I decided to print and put together my own cards using the online prototypes i put together. I chose these as they already had an outline on them and I wouldnt have to worry about cutting out each of the cards individually and making sure they are all the right size.  I put all of my cards on an A4 sheet format so that they would all line up, I was going to print double sided but any slight difference in the image lineup would mean that there would be alignment errors. Plus, cutting and sticking the backs and fronts separately makes for stronger cards. Below are the files for my cards. [as you can see, the background on this one is different to the other furniture cards. Evidently, I did not see this at the time.... You will see what happened with this in a moment...] A...
