Capstone Project - Bedroom Furniture Cards continued [PART 2]

Image
Woofer Rug - The woofer rug was the next of the furniture items to be designed. I took inspiration from gremmie's wolf hood and re-imagined it as a rug. I couldn't decide on which looked better, the eyes being open or the eyes being Xs like in gremmie's employee card however I ultimately chose the open eyes as I thought not only did it make the eyes more visible, but was also less morbid than the X eyes. Here is how it looks on the final card, I adjusted the arm position so that it fit better with the perspective of the scene. I want all the cards to line up and make sense in a scene together, so that is why i chose not to have the rug centered and instead place it on the ground. This will be demonstrated later on in this post. Tusk Nightstand - The tusk nightstand re-uses some materials from the shiny stone with the tusk decals coming from the back of the "mirror" section. I originally designed 3 different plain tables however I thought it would be more interest...

Capstone Project - Furniture card backgrounds

Image
A while ago I made some mock ups of the furniture cards that I just wasn't happy with. I decided to revisit this with a new idea that I felt much more confident about. I decided, as the furniture cards are separated into 4 groups, each group would have a unique background that when placed together would make a scene of an interior of the cave BnB. This wouldn't add anything to gameplay per se, but just makes the cards more aesthetically pleasing and easier to sort through. Below are my ideas for 3 of the rooms, the bedroom, lounge and kitchen. Here is my process for creating one of the backgrounds, I want them to be fairly simple so that they do not detract from the furniture pieces that will be on the cards. To create this canvas I took the dimensions stated on the cards and multiplied the longest edge by four so that my pattern will be tileable. I have found that the gradient tool is great for making really quick backgrounds as it lays out all your values for you so it is mu...

Capstone Project - Client Card : Kipp the Pretty and Skribb the Crazy

Image
Mood Board - Kipp the Pretty is the second to last client that I designed. I wanted her to be very well accessorized, utilizing Neolithic bead and bone necklaces in her design. I imagine her to be quite elegant and have some floral elements in her outfit giving her an almost bridal look. Thumbnails - Here is my set of thumbnails containing ideas from my mood board above. Of these designs I really like the hair of design 8,2 and 6 and I really like her flower crown as I think the use of flowers fits well with the "pretty" theme. For her clothing I wanted her to wear a dress, but unlike Aloe's dress, Kipps will have more of a youthful "Summer dress" appearance as opposed to a gown. This gives her a younger appearance to Aloe [as not to have her be associated with wealth] whilst also making her overall design feel more bright, bubbly and approachable, as her beauty is not just in her appearance but also her personality.  I loved the idea of giving Kipp vitiligo as...
