3D model of the classroom, Teachers desk, and final revision of the main character room [WEEK 17]

 3D model -

Using Pantelis's concept art as a reference i asked Seb to create a 3D model of the scene so that it would be easier to get accurate scenes that look the same from 3 different angles. The scene seb gave me was great i just needed a few extra details to make drawing the scenes much quicker. I modelled in some chairs [some of which are skewed at odd angles to later add students in], the teacher's laptop, and the projector for some extra depth to the scene. From here i screenshotted the angles i needed and brought them into Firealpaca.

Teacher's Desk final -

As I don't yet have the character style guide to be able to draw any characters I decided to draw the teacher's desk scene as it is the quickest to create. I just stuck with a very simple website UI design that would draw the viewers eye more to elements in the foreground whilst still being able to tell a story. Also with the help of the kitchen saturation experiments i followed the formula to create that warm summery look that will be the overall art style of our game.

Main character room revision -

Looking back at the main character's room i made towards the start of this project, i really just havent been very happy with how it looked and no matter how much i boosted the saturation or messed with the colours, i just wasn't happy with it. I felt it lacked the detail and character that the rest of the scenes had and that my only means to fix this was to make some drastic changes. First of all i made the PC into a laptop to keep congruency with the unpacking scene, added in more visual interest to the bed by putting snacks, sketches in the book, pictures on the wardrobe and more stuffed animals to give a more homely and laid back feel, and overall added in more little details in the background [including some sketches my team had made for character concepts as i thought this is a cute detail to give a nod to our team]. I am much much happier with this scene now and i think it really helps show the personality of the main character better.

In game view-

Here is how the two new backgrounds look in game with temporary characters, I'm really happy with how this game is coming together and the feedback ive gotten so far from my team is all positive.

Gantt Chart -

I had a bit of a setback this week with remaking the main characters room and until i have the artist style guide from Niamh i won't be able to finish the classroom scenes [or start the cafeteria scenes for the same reason]. So to make up for this i think i'm going to try to rattle out some of the quicker scenes such as the phone scene, wardrobe [which I will do next because i have been saying i will do this for a few weeks now and end up doing something else], and perhaps some of the daymarkers unless our new member Charlotte would like to do that. I don't think this set back will impact too much on the final delivery of this project but i am going to take steps to make sure everything is done. I anticipate that next week I am not going to have as much time to get things done as I have to go to the doctors but we still have a few months until submission and i feel like I don't have an insurmountable amount of work to do.
