End screen 1 and Main title concept [WEEK 23]

 Ending screen-

For the Ending screen where the main character decides to stay home rather than going to the party, I wanted to draw a scene with the bed being the main focus. To do this I made a 3D model based off of the layout of my main character room, that way i could move the camera and choose which angle looked the best. I threw in some environmental details such as pillows strewn around, a little UFO lamp, the string lights and some books just to add some further interest into the scene. I based this room off of my old apartment last year to give a familiar feeling to the setting. I then took some screenshots of the room at different angles to show to my team to see which they liked best.

Here is the model of the whole room

Niamh really liked the first shot as it drew the most focus to the main character, using this information i drew over my 3D blockout and added some additional details like stickers and posters on the wall, the main character in bed, and the little alien that we try to hide throughout the game as a little easter egg. I chose the lighting in the scene to come from just the nightlight to give a darker, more lonesome feeling to this piece. This scene is supposed to be the embodiment of giving in to your anxieties, staying in your safe space, which although may be comforting, is inevitably a very isolating thing to do. It was my hope to make the character in this scene look dejected and almost like they have given up, with them hiding away from the world under their covers, surrounded by material things that make them happy but still feeling very alone.

Main title concept-

I also threw together a main title concept that would show at the end of the game, I tried to use very comforting colours as well as little iconography that shows up a lot in our game such as post it notes, the little alien motifs, and a sun. I got some feedback from my team on my design, this is what they had to say.

I agree that the blue post it note was making the writing hard to read, here is the edited main title which shows up at the end of the game. I thought this would be a nice touch to have in the game ready to release the beta test soon.

Adding shading to Pantelis's backgrounds -

Pantelis sent through some of the background concepts he had been working on for our game, one of which was the cafeteria scene. He had sent through the flat colours which just needed shading to fit in with the style of our game. I did notice he had forgotten to format the drawing in the correct aspect ratio for our game, so i did have to crop out some of the details. But using the airbrush, polygon fill tool, marker and a blue toned multiply layer i added in the shadows and highlights to this scene. I then applied our game's gradient map and adjusted the saturation just slightly. Below i have included both the before and after, and how this scene looks within our game.

Drawing myself in the game's artstyle -

Just as a little bonus too, I drew myself in the game's artstyle. We decided as a team to all add ourselves into the game as background characters so I thought it was pretty fun to design what I might look like in the style. To make this I utilized the style guide Niamh made as well as taking inspiration from the already existing characters that she had drawn.

Gantt Chart -

We are now coming to the end of this project and I only have a few more tasks I need to do, I have offered the task of drawing the day markers to Nathan as well as as a team we decided to split the task of drawing the final scenes. I have already drawn mine and I believe Niamh and Pantelis are working on the party scene. I did ask Charlotte to design the chat too, however we have been unable to contact her and it appears she hasn't finished the character design task we set her around 4 weeks ago. Pantelis has offered to do it which is very kind, however I am willing to take this task on if the workload is too heavy on his end. All I will have to do now is implement my team's work, update my Instagram with updates on the game [which i have been posting to my Instagram highlights], and once we are ready I will post the Beta test on our Itch.io page [which i have also done some slight redecorating  on :) ]. As a team, we are very happy with how our game is looking, and I hope I was able to translate my team's ideas as best as I could.
