Digital sketch

Similar to what i created for the Plant section of the journal, I created a traditional sketch based on one of the creature designs made by the researcher, Faye. To make this drawing i combined the exaggerated proportions of the hyena design, with more realistic textures and anatomical elements found in sketches of real hyenas, this makes the creature feel more alive and fits in well with the sketchy style of the journal entries. Once i had finished my traditional sketch, i then moved on to digitising it, to just make it more presentable for the project. As we havent quite decided which colour scheme works best for the hyena, i made a range of coloured sketches using the colour iterations that Faye had created. Once we have decided on a final colour scheme, i will just discard the ones we dont need. I had some feedback with this drawing to put in some bottom teeth on the hyena to make it look more accurate, i found that just adding a slight indication of teeth, and perhaps some strands of saliva would really push the wild feel of this creature. I will make sure that whatever design we choose to go with, will have this detail.

This sketch of the hyena is the first of 6 sketches i hope to produce for this project, as i have mostly been doing a lot of 2D work as of late, i think i might try to flip back to 3D for a bit as this is much more time consuming, if i can get my models done out of the way with plenty of time for any necessary edits, i can focus back on 2D assets for this game as they take me much less time to do. However, i might try in class to do more 2D assets as i can't really do any work towards my 3D deliverables in confetti. I feel very confident about this project and how i have been working towards it, and i feel my team is working very well together.
