Taking the font i had downloaded previously - Brassia , i decided to sketch overtop of it with some of the plant designs i had made previously, i decided to turn the O into the saharan plum, the T into the savannah viper, the h has some mushrooms on it, the dirt has the beetle that pantelis designed, and there is a camera crosshair to tie in the photography elements. I also warped the text a little to make it more visually interesting, i did this using firealpaca's mesh transform tool as there isnt a curve text tool in my program. I chose the green colours as i thought it would show up best against the art piece whilst still feeling cohesive to the whole colour scheme. This is just a concept of how the game might look, and i have sent all of the assets separately so that the director can decide what they want to do with them. Now that i have this done, i will continue to work on my concept art and animal sprites to help out my team.
Cedrick Image -
As we are drawing closer to the end of this project and i had completed all of my deliverables i wished to complete, i asked my team members if there was anything they wanted me to help them with, The director tasked me to draw a small icon for the journal page about the main character.
Niamh: "actually would you want to make me a cute chibi flat front facing drawing of Cedrick for the inventory page :3 ? (to be on the left side of the journal)"
in response to this i created a simplified headshot of the main character:
I received some feedback on this piece however as i had misread the instructions, the director had wanted me to draw a full body piece as this would be representative of the wearable inventory of the player.
Niamh : "Oh i did originally imagine it as an fully body shot but realised I didn't specify that so apologies, tbf this works just fine cause I doubt we'd be including clothing or armour for player to put into the inventory spot (a bit like minecraft) but thank youu I'll do a show and tell when the UI page is done"
I initially wanted to get working on a fixed version to her specification as soon as possible as i felt quite guilty about this mix up, though i was unable to as i sustained a mild injury to my hand which made it painful to draw. Situations like this can easily be solved by sending sketches before finishing the piece, which i do usually do but neglected to do so on this occasion, with this in mind i will make sure to do this next time to avoid mix ups like this.
