My role as the 2D lead [WEEK 2]

As a group we decided on what our individual roles would be and how we are going to contribute to the project as a whole. Niamh, as the director, will be the main individual to oversee the project, plan what needs to be done to get to the end result, be the deciding choice if there is a tie between who wants what role, and helps organize people and adjust workloads to keep on schedule. Faye, as the main researcher will help gather visual research, find out about the topic we are working on and gather information that will be crucial to the design process. Myself, as the 2D lead, will help take Faye's research and create 2d concepts for creatures, environments and assets within the game, I will also have to take advice from Niamh and Faye on how to style my concepts and what things I need to draw to help towards the game. Pantelis, as the 3D lead will be working similarly to myself, creating the 3D assets for our game with the help of the entire team. Despite us all having these designated roles, this does not mean that just one person will be creating art or assets, workloads will be split evenly between all of us. I might be assigned to making textures for a 3D model or do some research into lighting and shaders, Niamh might step in and help with UV mapping, Faye might work on designing UI's or helping with creatures, and Pantelis could help design environments, assets or the storyline. As we don't have anyone who specializes specifically in 3D it is extra important for us to step in and help with whatever we can, and with the 2D department of is nice to get a range of styles to help broaden the creative influence on the project. By splitting workloads like this too, it means everyone has something to do at every step of the pipeline, one person isn't waiting on another and we can work far more efficiently in this way.
