Spined Tree [WEEK 7]
Here is the 3D model i created for the Spined tree design. As this tree would have a different front and side profile, i had to make a new orthographic for it so i could figure out where to place the leaves. Much like i did with the Snakeskin tree, I also gave a comparison between the tree and a human for general scale.
This is my orthographic, I admit the leaves on it differ a bit to my model as i realized making them look exactly as they do on my orthographic would have resulted in them being very chunky looking which is not what i was going for. I then modelled on top of this and was able to copy and paste each leaf meaning that i only had to create the UV for one leaf, this saved a lot of time as UV mapping each individual leaf would have taken almost double the time. I used the same technique with the leaves at the bottom, though i cut out quite a few of them as they were intersecting with the leaves above affecting the look of the model. Once i had finished modelling and UVing, i then followed my formula to create the textures. This plant is mostly green with accents of pink, purple and red towards the top half so to create a more stylistic gradient i used the acrylic sponge brush to achieve this look.

I now have 2/15 models created for the plants, This gives me hope that i might be able to finish this before Christmas break so that i can focus more on the 2D assets again. By giving myself more time to work on 3D i feel i will be more confident in pushing myself and trying new techniques to improve my models overall.
