Character turnaround sheets Pre-client feedback

 The Rebs "Katya" :

Combining some of the elements I liked the best and were voted the best from my thumbnail sketches i used them to put together a front and back view for the final character sheet. I made both a grayscale value sketch along with a coloured version with equipment block outs. For now i have left these quite rough just in case the client wants me to make any changes to my character design, I think i will also try to make a side profile shot and overall neaten up the appearance of the character sheet if i have time. Considering my genre justification i kept with a very slimline and agile looking design suited best for a melee based character build with her primary weapon being her fish hook and her secondary or special attack being her collar of which she throws over her enemies. Too on the very last iteration of the character sheet i included a zoom in of her facial scars and a colour wheel to help me when it comes to creating my character art. I also included some notes on crucial information about the character.

The Hogg and Swine -

For my Marauders character design I had some trouble figuring out how i would make the orthographic, I wanted everything to look consistent as this is a hard surface element as opposed to an organic character. I decided to make a 3D model of the mech element in maya [left untextured and un UV mapped as i am taking the 2D route] which i can then pose and draw over to both help with my orthographic and also my key art further down the line. By doing this i ensure all the elements stay the same no matter which angle i draw it from. I did however draw the little turret goblin on the top without a 3D model as it is much easier for me to draw characters in the usual fashion. For the turnaround sheet i tried to infer a rusty and beaten up texture along with the painted on decals the marauders included to show their temporary affiliation with the GCPS. I also included a colour wheel, full turnaround of the goblin turret attendant and added notes to explain any other details. Below is the maya turntable, images of my 3D model and my final orthographic.




Group Feedback on my designs -

My feedback is to add more scratches and damage on Katya. Perhaps notches taken out of the tail and bandages on the leg. I personally noticed that her torso is too short, I will have to redraw her to fix this issue [this shouldn't take me too long to do]. Add more graffiti onto the hogg, define the corrugation in the material between the metal plates.

Using the feedback i was given I decided to remake the character sheet for my rebs character. I gave her more scarring, fixed her proportions and added in a few additional details such as the emblem on her back and a bloody arm. I'm very glad i redrew this character sheet as I think it looks much better than my original design.
