Edited MC room and desk background [WEEK 15]
Thinking about IP infringement I decided to edit out the little alien toy on the main character's bed just in case this could pose some issues. I might replace it with a different unique toy later on but for now i think i might just leave it blank.
Using the feedback i got from my desk sketches I used them to create the final scene to be put in the game, because i have already defined the background image "desk" i just have to go into the images folder of the One more week game file and save over the placeholder image. I wanted to include a lot of little details that tells the viewer a bit more about the main character and their personality, straight out the gate it is probably very obvious that the main character enjoys space and alien themed items with the prevalent use of alien imagery, stars, spaceships and planets. I also wanted to portray them as being an artistic character with the various art supplies thrown messily on their desk, this also somewhat links to their scattered and nervous personality, moving in was probably quite overwhelming and so the main character just dumped everything down as quickly as they could. I'm very glad i went with this idea and i agree with Nathan that our UI designs would definitely fit with this layout the best, it really helps put the player in the main character's perspective.
Here is a screenshot of how this design looks like in game :
Gantt Chart -
I have made a few changes to the gantt chart now that i have a good frame for how long it takes me to make each finalized environment piece, I will probably change this again in the future but looking at the chart as a whole i have a lot of wiggle room to get things done before the final summative. My next step is to get the kitchen scene finished before i move onto the wardrobe, I think if i do it this way by doing concept - final piece - concept - final piece, it means i don't have an overwhelming amount of final rendered scenes to do. I have also talked with seb about maybe sending him some of my top down scene concepts for him to make in maya to streamline the environment art process further. We also potentially have another individual joining our team so if i feel like i am absolutely swamped down with work we can split the workload between three people [myself, seb, and the new person]. I'm feeling pretty confident so far though and I'm really enjoying seeing everything come together.
