Capstone Project - Proposal feedback

After presenting my FMP Proposal to my class I gathered some useful feedback on my work, some of this feedback pertained to the general art style of my game and seeing how I can implement the Neolithic painting styles into my work.

One of my peers suggested that I could perhaps use the style for both the motifs and the box art of my game to supplement the style I have already developed, this would help me keep the more lively style that is more appealing to younger audiences whilst also reinforcing the prehistoric theming of my overall game. My tutor also backed up this idea especially with the box art. This is something I am going to try out soon to just see how it looks, at this stage, if I don't end up liking it that much, I won't have lost too much valuable time.

Some other feedback I got was to do some research into how the Flintstones create furniture that fits both a modern and prehistoric theme, this is something that will relate to both the caves and the furniture cards within my game. I like this idea a lot, and I think it will help me in the ideation phase of the furniture cards.

The final piece of feedback I got was in regards to how I will cover the comedy themes within my game. I do not consider myself to be an overly "Funny person", I find it hard to make jokes that are actually funny so this project will be something that really pushes me out of my comfort zone. My tutor recommended me to look into how writers "Write funny" and how I can implement this into my own work. I want humour in my game to feel inclusive to all ages, so that nobody feels left out when playing. The game itself should be really lighthearted and not take itself so seriously, so this will really help me figure out how I should cover humour.

A final but very useful note was that I should really look at how many furniture cards I will end up needing to draw so that I can solidify how many designs are needed, I am pretty confident on the number of client, employee and action cards and indeed I hadn't really fully chosen a number for furniture cards. This will be something of high priority to me so that I can plan my time accordingly [luckily furniture cards are much less detailed than character and action cards so likely my schedule won't change that much.]

Now that my project proposal and pitch is complete, I can really dive into working on this project. I will make sure to implement my feedback  [especially with the cards which will come into play when i make my first prototype] as I go. At the moment, the cards and the furniture references will be the most important, and I will try to implement both of those points of feedback at the same time. When it comes to the Humour in the game, that will be most important when it comes to the action cards and their artwork.

I feel my presentation went quite well, I managed to keep it just a little over 10 minutes [which is an improvement from the presentation time last year, whoopsie...] and I felt quite confident talking about my idea. On a whole I've felt really excited to work on this project, so it was much easier talking about something I am passionate about than something I feel a bit worried with, I thought the feedback I gathered was really beneficial and I also just liked seeing what everyone else is planning on working on!.
