Environment considerations continued [WEEK 6]
Working with the script writer my role is to figure out what environments are needed, what specific details to add and perhaps what any lighting or visual effects to include in my scenes.
Environments: (Underlined are the most crucial areas)
Apartment MC
Campus [Maybe several views, art sector, cafeteria, street view, outside dorm block?]
Classroom
Party - House with party decorations
From perspective of items in a box, we see the main character looking into the box [Opening scene]
Apartment Hallway?
Apartment shared space
Job interview room?
Hallways?
Campus bathroom? [Maybe scene goes black and this is a solely text based section to add more seriousness to the situation] [Floating/scrolling text box]
Mirror scene [Seeing the main character in the mirror with text]
Accommodation Reception?
Park?
Shopping mall?
Mechanics and storyboard :
We discussed that our game has a lot of content for 5-10 minutes of gameplay, this might mean that we have to look at our storyboard again and see how we can trim it down to the most important parts so that the game is still interesting but does fit in with the allotted time. We also talked about using twine to plan out our game so we can test all the routes in a readable manner. Some mechanics we might implement are :
- Multiple endings
-Player can name NPCs
- Anxiety mechanic - shows the player how the main character is feeling in response to certain choices, we're not sure how we would implement this yet as we don't know the limitations of Renpy, however we will try to find a way to do this as it is something that makes our game unique.
- Maybe a character relationship meter? it will display your current relationship with a certain character depending on your interaction choices.
