Capstone Project: Krabb the Lookout
Thumbnails-
Krabb the lookout was by far the most fun of the bunga characters to design. I wanted most of his face to be concealed as I had such a strong idea for his final card being him peeking out of some shrubbery with only a pair of binoculars showing. Of these designs I agreed with the feedback I got that number 9 was the most interesting and made the most sense for the lookout character trait. I also like how it makes him hardly distinguishable as a Neanderthal, rather he is just a heap of fur with a hat and binoculars, which is very charming.

Almost all the feedback I got agreed that design number 9 was a winner, so that was the one I chose in the end.
Final card-
As stated before I had such a strong Idea for his card, Here he is peeking out from the bushes, really leaning into his Lookout character trait.

You can see in his final design I actually swapped out the rock binoculars for wooden binoculars, I decided to do this as this made more sense in terms of how they would likely be constructed, and I also found it fit better with his overall colour scheme. Another thing to note is the purposeful exaggeration of the eyes though the binoculars, I though that this design choice not only made the binoculars immediately identifiable, but also added a comedic element to his design being so cartoonishly exaggerated.

Trello-
This now marks all the employee cards as being complete [except for the backs of the cards however I will do that as my very last task as the employee, client and action cards will all have the same backs to them, so I would rather design this when I have them all designed]. I am very happy with how all of these turned out, comparing them to the client cards they retain the same charm but are different enough that it would be hard to get them confused. I love how each of the characters embodies their job roles and I think this adds an extra level of accessibility especially to younger audiences who might not understand what their job roles are from the text alone. My next step is to get all 16 action cards completed, which I plan to do over the 2 week Easter holiday. As these designs will be much simpler than all the cards I have designed so far, I do not feel that this is an impossible task for that time frame. When we get back, there are 5 weeks before the deadline, in which I plan to create the 4 player cards, the manual, and if I have time, Box art.
I hope to get at least the cards printed off for the showcase at the end of the year, I will have to research how much it would cost to produce the cards, the manual and the box art but those latter two elements would just be an extra detail. I also want to write a bit about what I plan to do with this project post-deadline, as I think this is an important consideration for the future. Right now though I feel I am in a pretty good position, there has been a few moments over the past couple of weeks where I felt a bit unsure if I could get everything done by the deadline but I feel much better now that a good chunk of this project is complete. I am very happy with all the work I have done so far and I have been really enjoying the process of creating all the cards.
