Medium Plant Journal sketches [WEEK 8]

Lilypad -

Here are some medium plants i created to be in the journal menus, the first of these is a lilypad like plant with heavy pollen covered protrusion to lure in potential pollinators. I used the same technique of turning my traditional sketch into a digital image by paining on top of it to make it more smooth. This plant would likely be found in oasis or swamp like areas and have many bugs surrounding it.

Name - Sticky Cluster Pad , Nymphae aparine
Rarity - 3 Stars
Location - Oasis
Information -
Covered in a sweet, sticky pollen rich surface, the Sticky Cluster Pad resides in the oasis biomes and make a excellent breeding ground for mosquitos and small insects alike. The pollen it produces has a distinct sweet, almost candy like smell that is an excellent lure for insect eating small fauna, however this sticky sweet sap is inedible to humans, stripping the moisture from ones mouth and causing a light skin and digestive reaction.

Cashew Apple-Like Vine -

The other medium plant i created is this vine plant, which was a popular choice with the feedback i got from the last bunch of sketches i created. This plant would be an edible vine found in the deep jungle, and would play an important role in the final act of the game in which the character must find food to survive. This plant would provide a big boost to the health or hunger bar, but might require the character to do some traversing across unsteady terrain to get to it. providing a layer of platforming mechanic to our game.

Name - Glazed mangosteen Vine, Anacardium mangostana
Rarity - 5 Stars
Location - Deep Jungle
Information -
A delicious, vine growing plant found deep in the New Saharan jungle, the Glazed Mangosteen plant has a floral, refreshing taste with soft flesh that is easy to bruise. The plant bares a single seed at the bottom of its fruit which is inedible, very tough and astringent, however the main fruit itself is incredibly delicious. As this plant grows high from the canopy, many small and medium tree dwelling fauna frequently snack upon this fruit, sending the hard seeds plummeting to the jungle floor. These falling seeds can become quite a risk to passers by, falling with the strength of a decent sized rock.
