Capstone Project: Klove the Brambler

Prototype Card
Taking inspiration from my mood boards and the art on my prototype card, I made some thumbnails of outfit designs for Klove the Brambler. I really loved the idea of giving them a cool leaf hat, i think its very silly and fits well with their outdoorsy nature. As for their outfit the main themes i was going for here was gardening/foraging attire such as worn dungarees, anoraks and patterned polos. 

As they are out and about in the bushes a lot, I wanted to give them a very rough and choppy appearance, giving them a short and wild haircut and mud/scratches on their face to give them that vibe. 

I noted some similarities to Obie the Fearful's design, which made me think they would maybe be siblings? this doesn't add anything to the game's mechanics I just think this is a cute addition to the "lore" of Hotel Bunga.

With the designs above, I personally loved the little leaf hat of 3 and 4 and definitely knew I wanted to incorporate this into the final design. I asked my peers which of the outfits and hair styles they liked, with hair colour/style of number 4 being quite popular, and the outfit and necklace of 5 fitting the rugged out outdoorsy feel. I ended up combining these two designs for the final look of Klove the Brambler.
Here are some colour iterations, however I ultimately decided number 1 had the most cohesive colour palette and didnt feel too similar to Obie the Fearful.

Final Card:

As the employee cards have a different layout to the client cards, I wanted to make a few iterations on pose for Klove's card just to see which looked nicest. I got some feedback that number 1 had a pose that best represented Klove's personality. I also liked the addition of the stone axe in this design, so I decided to go with this one for the final card.


Here is my sketch, I'm quite happy with the hands in this one actually!

And here is the final Mock-up card, I changed the background saturation to be a bit lower as it was clashing with the dungarees, too, I added in the new cave attribute stat next to the hiring price. I also went back to the Gremmie card and added this to hers too.

I was able to complete this card is roughly 1 day [time was a bit split as I had to work on another project for a bit but if we add up the amount of time I spent on Klove as a whole it roughly took about 6 hours ish to make mood boards, thumbnails and the final card] this puts me on track to be able to have all 5 remaining employee cards completed by next week! I think once I have these completed I will feel much better about the amount of art left to do for this project. I aim to work on Bung the sneaky next as he is next in my list of characters on my mood boards.
