Capstone Project: Rok the Gatherer & Maarsha the Needler

Rok the Gatherer

With Rok the gatherer I wanted to try out some more unique hairstyles. I really liked the look of hairstyle 1 and 4 as I thought these had the most interesting colour differentiation. I think 1 or 9 reads the best as being a caveman. I did try out a shorter style on designs 3 and 7 however I felt these read more as "medieval peasant" than caveman. In the end I thought the hair of number 1 and the outfit of number 2 was the most interesting.
Of all of the different animal prints I noticed the wolf print was the most popular, for this reason I opted for the dinosaur print for Rok just to make him more unique. I did also test out a thylacine print however it didnt stand out as much as the green dino print did. I think as well the earthy tones fir best with his colour pallet overall.

Maarsha the Needler

As for Maarsha the Needler, I wanted her outfit to feel both stylish and practical as her main two qualities is representing the trendiness attribute and crafting furniture. In these designs I tried to go for a very 1940's look reminiscent of the women in ww2 posters, re-imagining the look in the caveman style. I really struggled to choose which of these designs I liked best, I was particularly torn between designs 1, 3 and 6, so to help me choose i asked my peers for advice on which designs they liked best.

Feedback:

I got some feedback to combine the hair of number 3 and the outfit of number 9, which I agreed with, i think the variation of fur patterns really leans into her role as an upholsterer and the overall look of her outfit does retain some of that 1940's influence but feels far more believable as being something a caveperson might wear.

Final Card:

Maarsha the Needler

Both of these cards designs were very clear in my mind, I wanted them both to showcase the character's relevant props [the spear for Rok and the needle and thread for maarsha]. I particularly like maarsha's pose, I think having her being mid-action helps show off what her card ability is just from a first glance.

Rok the Gatherer

As for Rok, I chose just a simple pose of him holding his spear as I wasn't sure how to incorporate both hunting and gathering into an action. I do really like this pose though, although simple I tried to make it dynamic and energetic, making him feel approachable.

Trello:

I now only have 1 more employee to design! I had a little setback this week as I had to complete the new Multiplayer group brief but it hasn't set me too far back that I can't catch up. I aim to get the next employee design completed within the following week  to catch myself up to my schedule.
